Northeastern University College Celebrations: Leader Bank Pavilion

For decades, Matthews Arena served as the beloved home of Northeastern University's College Celebrations — a storied venue steeped in tradition and athletic history. As the arena enters an exciting new chapter of transformation, the celebrations called for a bold pivot: a move to Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston's vibrant Seaport District. The shift presented both a challenge and an opportunity — to reimagine what "Northeastern" could look and feel like in an entirely new space.

The design concept centered on one core idea: from the moment students and their families arrived, they would know they were at a Northeastern event. To achieve that instant sense of place and belonging, the work drew directly from the public art installations displayed across Northeastern's Boston campus — translating those iconic visual identities into large-scale environmental designs throughout the venue. By weaving in the imagery, patterns, and color language already embedded in the campus experience, the designs created an immediate, authentic connection between the audience and the university they call home — no matter the address on the door.
